Thanks for the reply Ratman, I had actually thought about the GS500 but I've read a couple reviews from 93 and 97 I believe that pit the GS500 and the EX500 against each other and the EX500 comes out on top in both reviews. I've also heard that in comparison the GS500 feels a bit less substantial than than the EX500 and also that the Kawa has better performance.

Doesn't the GS500 tend to be pretty cold-blooded, in other words, is it hard to get it going when it's a bit colder out unless you let it sit on choke for a few minutes before taking off? I've heard the EX500 doesn't have this problem.

I have heard though that the EX500 can be a little bit more maintenance because you can't really get access to anything without taking off the gas tank and it is fluid-cooled so that must be replaced.

How does the GS500 look with the fairing? Does it have a full fairing available? This is one of my concerns - I wanted to get a new bike that would give me more protection from the elements.

Has the GS500 been pretty reliable - oh yeah, I just remembered another thing about the GS500 was that the finish tended to be a bit below par - basically that it corrodes pretty fast if it's around pretty humid conditions.

hmmmm
